Account book, 1872-1878, 1872-1874 (bulk).

Manuscript account book records work done, for whom, and prices charged. Most accounts seem to have been settled by cash payments, although at least one was partially settled by trading a horse. Most of Jacobs', and later Jacobs & Codd's, work was painting or varnishing wagons, buggies, sleighs, and their parts, including wheels and shafts. In addition, they painted or varnished a wide variety of other items: chairs, tables, bedsteads, signs, a birdcage, wheelbarrows, baskets, barns, houses, window blinds, a tin pail, and a baby carriage. In several instances, Jacobs had to take wagons to the blacksmith for repairs, and customers were charged for that service. Manuscript also records the purchase of paint, varnish, brushes, ladders, sponges, and other materials needed for Jacobs & Codd's work.
